Welcome to the Department of Biology

The study of biology is central to understanding the world around us. Our department offers undergraduate and graduate programs steeped in research that reflects the complexity and diversity of living organisms. Working closely with faculty, students explore everything from cell and molecular biology to ecology and evolution.

Undergraduate Programs

We offer majors and minors in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and environmental science. You also could pursue a concentration in mathematical biology and bioinformatics or a track in pre-health biology.

As an undergraduate, you may apply to our Accelerated B.A./M.S. degree in biology, or in biochemistry and molecular biology, with a fifth year paid for by a scholarship.

Our doctoral program’s intimate size allows Ph.D. students to collaborate, build relationships with, and receive mentoring from world-class faculty.

Our bachelor’s and master’s students have opportunities to pursue research and internships that land them jobs after graduation.
